The Floyd Food Guide project began in 2017. It arose from conversations at the Floyd Growers Roundtable, a project of SustainFloyd and the Floyd County Economic Development Authority. The guide is designed to be a comprehensive directory of resources related to food production and consumption centered in Floyd County, Virginia. This online guide is updated regularly. We also produce printed guides that are available at the Community Market in downtown Floyd and other locations around the county. You can download the printed version of the latest guide, which contains photos, stories, and additional information about the production of food in Floyd County.
Along with basic information about local farmers and producers, we include notations of the certifications they hold, such as USDA Organic. For explanations of these certifications, please see our Certifications page for more information.
If you have a Floyd County business that distributes or sells Floyd food products (meats, cheeses, honey, produce, mushrooms et cetera) locally and are not included in the current version of the printed guide and would like to be considered for inclusion, please contact us (see below). If accepted, your business will appear on the website as soon as those additions can be made and in the next printing of the paper form of the guide.
