Dulaney’s Greenhouse first started as a florist. The first greenhouse was built behind the small office to house the tropical flowers being grown in their arrangements. In 1982, a local restaurant asked Dulaney’s to grow all of their tomatoes and peppers, and they would buy the whole lot to cook for customers.
When time came to deliver, Dulaney’s found out the restaurant had already stocked their shelves to the brim. Left with tons of fresh tomatoes and produce, they decided to sell their produce themselves. More greenhouses were erected and a farm in the back lot was born. But then, deer wiped out their crops, so more greenhouses were built and the business of seed starts and flowers was nailed down.
They have 40 varieties of tomatoes and countless other veggies for sale including flowers, baskets, and wholesale/retail options. Only open a couple of months of the year, Dulaney’s is a staple for home gardeners and restaurants in and around Floyd County. Distributor for Seven Springs Farm Supply.
